Each one of us has different values and belief systems. It’s what makes us unique and diverse. Therefore, it’s vital to determine what is important to you to properly establish what will motivate you. Internal motivation is what drives you to modify a lifestyle habit. The most common lifestyle changes that people strive for is their daily food choices, exercise routine, and creating a healthy balance in their lives. With that in mind, we use a powerful exercise that will determine your values and priorities.
There are well-defined stages that we all face when improving our health and lifestyle. These stages are important to identify because they can act as your Wellness Warrior roadmap.
The Stages of Change
- Pre-contemplation (Not acknowledging there’s a behavior that must be changed)
- Contemplation (Acknowledging that there is a problem but not yet ready to make a change)
- Preparation (Getting ready to change)
- Action (Changing behavior)
- Maintenance (Maintaining the behavior change)
- Relapse (Returning to older behaviors and abandoning the new changes)
